Side One: 1. Living After Midnight (Tipton / Halford / Downing) - 3:30
Side Two: 2. Breaking The Law (Tipton / Halford / Downing) - 2:33 There's something about Birmingham that spawns classic heavy metal: Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and of course Judas Priest. Named after Dylan's "Ballad Of Frankie Lee And Judas Priest", they were formed in '72 by vocalist Rob Halford, guitarists Glen Tipton and K.K. (Kenny) Downing, and basist Ian Hill. They first recorded for the local indie Gull label, then in 1977 signed with CBS. Live albums and American tours followed, as well as problems with drummers - the band got through several candidates over the years, eventually settling on Dave Holland who features on their two biggest hits "Living After Midnight" (UK:12) and "Breaking The Law" (UK:12), both from 1980. With their twin-guitar attack, soaring Halford vocals and powerful material. Priest remained deservedly popular throughout the '80s.
